Heineken
Project management.
As merchandising expert, I worked in a small team which oversaw all the marketing programmes involving communication materials. We advised, led and intervened while our marketing colleagues worked hard to execute their campaigns. I trained my trade marketing and brand marketing colleagues on how to bests project manage the development and production of merchandising for their products, increasing their efficiency and decreasing cost.
In addition to this, I also took over project managed for bigger projects which required more expertise such as merchandising for key brand launch events and big sponsored events such as Champions League.
With so many brands at Heineken, and so many activities per brand chaos was always around the corner - I very much enjoyed bringing structure to the projects and staving off impending panic.
Process improvement.
During my time at Heineken Brandstore, a new Ariba-based Project Management platform and sales system was introduced.
I was a key contributor on the project management side of the platform, working closely with my team and the brand- and trade management teams to ensure that the process provided them in all their project management needs. This included online task management, asset inventory, planning, budget management and more.
Once implemented, I was responsible for creating the training content, performing the trainings and assist users post-training.
The most interesting thing about this project was all the different players, and their learning and analysis styles. I learnt a lot about how you must always consider multiple working styles.
Production & Logistics.
In the Heineken Brandstore Team was I was also responsible for maintaining a stock of basic range of merchandising - from beer mats to glasses. Generally the amount of items held in stock at any given time was over 1500 separate SKU’s. The work also involved (among other things) managing design updates, forecasting, production management, stock management, supplier management and stock logistics.
The logistic side of things was relatively new to me, and being able to dive in to this on a very expert level was enriching - I’ve taken what I’ve learnt here into quite a few other projects.
